From Fairytale to Toxic Relationship

It always starts harmlessly. A glance, a smile, a spark — and suddenly the world seems bathed in a rosy glow. This is how Sarah’s story begins, and perhaps it’s a story you’ve lived yourself. Her love for Mark appeared perfect, almost fairytale-like. But what seemed, at first, to be an unshakable bond slowly morphed into something entirely different — something I’ve seen in many relationships: jealousy.

In the early stages, jealousy might feel like care or devotion. But there’s a subtle difference: true love never turns into possessiveness or control. The moment your freedom begins to feel restricted, and it’s not out of genuine concern but fear or distrust, something has shifted, and that’s when the cracks start to appear.

From Fairytale to Toxic Relationship
At first, Mark’s behavior seemed protective — the occasional question about her friends, the extra attention. But before Sarah knew it, those small moments became more frequent, more intense. “Who is that? Why do you talk to her so much?” The questions didn’t seem harmful at first, but slowly, they began to suffocate her. Each interaction with others was questioned. She couldn’t breathe without wondering what Mark would think.
